रुद्राक्ष-माहात्म्य
Rudrākṣa Māhātmya — The Greatness of Rudraksha
रुद्रा क्षमालिनं दृष्ट्वा शिवो विष्णुः प्रसीदति । देवीगणपतिस्सूर्यः सुराश्चान्येपि पार्वति
rudrā kṣamālinaṃ dṛṣṭvā śivo viṣṇuḥ prasīdati | devīgaṇapatissūryaḥ surāścānyepi pārvati
O Pārvatī, on seeing one adorned with a Rudrākṣa rosary, the Rudras are pleased; Śiva and Viṣṇu are pleased; and the Goddess, Gaṇapati, the Sun, and the other gods also become gracious.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
The verse teaches that Rudrākṣa (symbolized by a prayer-rosary) is a sacred mark of Śiva-bhakti; seeing such devotion invokes divine grace, indicating that sincere Shaiva orientation harmonizes one with all deities under Śiva’s lordship (Pati).
Rudrākṣa-wearing is presented as an outward support for Saguna Śiva-upāsanā—helping the devotee maintain remembrance while performing Linga worship, japa, and pūjā—so the body and mind become aligned to Śiva’s presence.
Use a Rudrākṣa mālā for japa—especially the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a daily discipline; it functions both as a devotional sign and a meditative aid for steadiness and purity.
