Rudrākṣa Māhātmya — The Greatness of Rudraksha
एवंभूतं स्थितं ध्याने यदा कृत्वासनैर्जनम् । शिवेति व्याहरंश्चैव दृष्ट्वा पापैः प्रमुच्यते
evaṃbhūtaṃ sthitaṃ dhyāne yadā kṛtvāsanairjanam | śiveti vyāharaṃścaiva dṛṣṭvā pāpaiḥ pramucyate
When a person, having seated himself properly in an āsana, abides in such meditation and repeatedly utters the name “Śiva,” then—having obtained Śiva’s vision—he is released from sins.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Mantra: śiveti
Role: liberating
It teaches that disciplined meditation (dhyāna) joined to Śiva-nāma (the utterance of “Śiva”) culminates in Śiva-darśana, by which sins are dissolved and the soul moves toward purification and liberation under Pati (Śiva).
The verse points to Saguna-upāsanā: using name and form as supports for concentration. In practice, devotees often meditate on the Śiva-liṅga while repeating Śiva’s name, leading to inner darśana and cleansing of pāpa.
Sit in a steady āsana, enter dhyāna, and perform Śiva-nāma japa (“Śiva”/Pañcākṣarī such as Om Namaḥ Śivāya). The emphasis is on stable posture, focused contemplation, and continuous mantra-recitation.
