With loving devotion, he should tie the waist-band while reciting the mantra “mānastoke”; then, reciting “namo dhṛṣṇave” (or that mantra), he should properly place the upper cloth (uttarīya) upon himself.

Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that even preparatory acts—like tying the waist-cloth and arranging the upper garment—become sacred when done with premā (devotional love) and mantra, aligning the body and mind for Shiva’s worship.
This is part of the external purity and readiness (ācāra) expected before approaching Saguna Shiva in Linga-worship; disciplined attire supports steadiness, reverence, and focused offering to the Linga.
A simple ritual practice: dress mindfully for puja—tie the waist-band and place the uttarīya while reciting the given mantras, cultivating devotion and one-pointedness before beginning Shiva’s worship.
