Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: General phalaśruti: even minimal contact (one verse/half-verse) with Śiva Purāṇa, when joined with bhakti, yields immediate purification—mirroring tīrtha logic where a small act at the right locus grants great fruit.
Significance: Promises kṣaṇāt pāpa-mokṣa (instant release from sins) through devoted recitation—positioning the text as a portable pilgrimage and purifier.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It teaches that bhakti is the decisive power: even minimal contact with Śiva’s sacred narration, when joined with devotion, burns pāpa quickly and turns the mind toward Śiva (Pati), the giver of grace and liberation.
Recitation of the Śiva Purāṇa is presented as a direct form of Saguna Śiva-upāsanā—honoring Śiva through His names, deeds, and teachings—supporting Linga worship by cultivating devotion, purity, and steadiness in practice.
A simple practice is daily Śiva Purāṇa pāṭha (even half a verse) done with bhakti; it may be paired with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and respectful worship such as offering water to the Liṅga.
