Praṇava-Māhātmya and the Twofold Mantra (Sūkṣma–Sthūla) in Śaiva Sādhanā
पुनश्च दशकोट्या हि कारणब्रह्मणः पदम् । पुनश्च दशकोट्या हि तत्पदैश्वर्यमाप्नुयात्
punaśca daśakoṭyā hi kāraṇabrahmaṇaḥ padam | punaśca daśakoṭyā hi tatpadaiśvaryamāpnuyāt
And again, by a further ten crores, one attains the state of the Causal Brahman; and again, by yet another ten crores, one obtains the sovereign glory belonging to that very state.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Gradational ascent through causal planes (kāraṇa-brahman padam) and their aiśvarya, implying movement beyond gross/subtle into causal order
It describes graded spiritual attainment—moving from high states of realization up to the “Causal Brahman,” and beyond that to the full divine lordship associated with that plane—implying that sustained sadhana and Shiva’s grace unfold in stages.
In the Vidyeshvara context, Linga-worship and Panchakshara japa are presented as practical means by which the seeker progresses through increasingly subtle states; Saguna Shiva worship matures the devotee toward realizing the causal source and the lordly power that flows from it.
The verse implies intensive mantra-japa as a measurable discipline (often understood with Panchakshara), supported by Shaiva observances such as Linga-puja, vibhuti (Tripundra) and Rudraksha, culminating in higher realization through devotion and inner absorption.
