वौषडंतेन मूलेन पुनः प्रक्षाल्य कर्तरीम् । हस्ते शिष्यस्य चैतन्यं तद्देहे विनिवर्तयेत्
vauṣaḍaṃtena mūlena punaḥ prakṣālya kartarīm | haste śiṣyasya caitanyaṃ taddehe vinivartayet
Having again washed the scissors with the root-mantra ending in “vauṣaṭ”, the teacher should restore the disciple’s conscious vitality, placing it back into that body through the disciple’s hand.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: (mūlamantra) … vauṣaṭ
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Ritual ‘return’ of consciousness: anugraha restoring purified vitality after symbolic saṃhāra of prior identity.
It presents a Shaiva initiation framework where mantra-purification and the guru’s regulated action symbolically return the disciple’s awakened spiritual vitality, emphasizing disciplined rites as supports for inner awakening under Pati (Shiva).
The use of a mūlamantra and the ‘vauṣaṭ’ ending reflects Vedic-Śaiva ritual procedure used in Saguna Shiva worship—where external acts (śuddhi, offerings, mantra) serve as vehicles for invoking Shiva’s grace and stabilizing the disciple in worship.
It indicates mantra-based purification (washing the instrument with the mūlamantra) and a guided restoration of caitanya through the disciple’s hand—pointing to a formal diksha-style rite rather than a standalone meditation.
