शिशुकस्य शिवशास्त्रप्राप्तिः (Śiśuka’s Attainment of Śaiva Teaching and Grace)
दत्तं न पय इत्युक्त्वा रुदन् दुःखीकरोषि माम् । प्रसादेन विना शंभो पयस्तव न विद्यते
dattaṃ na paya ityuktvā rudan duḥkhīkaroṣi mām | prasādena vinā śaṃbho payastava na vidyate
Crying and saying, “The milk has not been given,” you make me sorrowful. O Śambhu, without Your grace, there can be no milk for You at all.
A devotee/supplicant addressing Lord Shiva (Śambhu) within Suta’s Vāyavīya narration context
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Teaches that Śiva’s prasāda alone makes offerings efficacious; inspires surrender (śaraṇāgati) and reliance on grace rather than means.
Mantra: śaṃbho
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that outer offerings like milk become spiritually meaningful only when grounded in Śiva’s prasāda (grace); the devotee’s lament highlights the Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis that liberation and even true worship depend on Pati’s compassionate bestowal.
Milk-offering (abhisheka) is a Saguna act directed to Śiva as Śambhu; the verse reminds that ritual efficacy is not merely material supply but the Lord’s accepting grace—transforming a physical act into a channel of devotion and purification.
Perform Linga-abhisheka with humility while repeating the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and internally contemplate that all offerings arise through Śiva’s anugraha (grace), cultivating surrender (śaraṇāgati) rather than mere ritualism.
