Mantra: वायुरुवाच । इति स्तुतो महादेवो ब्रह्माद्यैरमरैः प्रभुः । स भक्तवत्सलस्स्वामी तुतोष करुणोदधिः
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
It highlights Śiva as karuṇodadhi (ocean of compassion) and bhaktavatsala (devotee-loving), teaching that sincere praise and devotion draw His grace, which removes pāśa (bondage) and supports liberation.
The verse shows Saguna worship through stuti (praise) offered by the devas; in Shiva Purana practice, such heartfelt reverence is commonly directed to the Śiva-liṅga as the accessible form of Mahādeva who responds with prasāda (divine favor).
Perform stotra-pāṭha or nāma-japa with bhakti—especially pañcākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—as a direct, devotion-centered practice to please Mahādeva and receive His compassion.
