दक्षस्य यज्ञप्रवृत्तिः तथा ईश्वरवर्जितदेवसमागमः
Dakṣa’s Sacrificial Undertaking and the Devas’ Assembly without Īśvara

Seeing the entire assembly of gods arrived there without the Lord (Śiva), Dadhīci, seized by indignation, spoke thus to Dakṣa.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; the verse marks the theological scandal of a deva-assembly convened ‘without Īśvara’, illustrating how māyā-driven pride can ‘conceal’ the Lord’s primacy and precipitate karmic collapse.
It highlights that even a divine gathering is spiritually deficient when Īśvara (Shiva), the supreme Pati, is excluded—showing that prideful ritual and social status cannot replace devotion and reverence to Shiva.
The verse underscores Shiva’s indispensability: Saguna worship (such as honoring Shiva through the Linga) is the proper acknowledgment of Īśvara’s lordship; excluding Shiva from worship or sacrifice is portrayed as a fundamental spiritual error.
The takeaway is to begin rites with Shiva-smaraṇa and Shiva-pūjā—such as reciting the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and offering reverence to the Linga—so that ritual is aligned with devotion rather than ego.
