Śiva’s Boon to Viśvakarman and the Manifestation of Devī
Bhavānī/Parāśakti
ईश्वर उवाच । वत्स वत्स महाभाग मम पुत्र पितामह । ज्ञातमेव मया सर्वं तव वाक्यस्य गौरवम्
īśvara uvāca | vatsa vatsa mahābhāga mama putra pitāmaha | jñātameva mayā sarvaṃ tava vākyasya gauravam
Īśvara said: “Dear one, dear one—O greatly fortunate one, my son and also my forefather—indeed, I already know everything, and I fully understand the weight and dignity of your words.”
Lord Shiva (Īśvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Role: teaching
The verse highlights Īśvara’s sarvajñatva (all-knowing nature): Shiva already knows the intent and gravity of the devotee’s words, showing the Pati (Lord) as the inner witness who understands speech, mind, and motive.
In Saguna worship—such as Linga-upāsanā—the devotee offers prayers and petitions, yet this verse reminds that Shiva is not informed by words; He receives worship as compassionate Īśvara who already knows the devotee’s inner state.
A practical takeaway is japa with inner sincerity—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—performed with the awareness that Shiva knows the bhāva (inner devotion) behind the mantra, beyond mere recitation.
