Śiva’s Boon to Viśvakarman and the Manifestation of Devī
Bhavānī/Parāśakti
सर्वं जगदिदं चैषा संमोहयति मायया । ईश्वरात्सैव जाताभूदजाता परमार्थतः
sarvaṃ jagadidaṃ caiṣā saṃmohayati māyayā | īśvarātsaiva jātābhūdajātā paramārthataḥ
This very Māyā deludes the entire universe by her power of illusion. She is said to have arisen from the Lord, yet in the highest truth she is unborn.

It teaches that bondage is caused by Māyā’s power of delusion, while liberation comes from recognizing the Supreme Lord (Shiva) as the transcendent reality beyond Māyā; Māyā appears to arise for cosmic function, yet is ultimately beginningless and not independent of Shiva.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion give the mind a pure support to cross delusion: by fixing awareness on Shiva’s form, name, and presence, the seeker loosens Māyā’s confusion and turns toward Shiva, who is beyond Māyā yet graciously approachable through worship.
Regular japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with steady dhyāna on Shiva, supported by Shaiva disciplines like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa, is a practical means to reduce Māyā’s delusion and cultivate Shiva-oriented knowledge.
