Umāyāḥ Kriyāyoga-Rahasya
The Esoteric Teaching on Umā’s Kriyāyoga
ज्येष्ठे शुक्लतृतीयायां व्रतं कृत्वा महेश्वरीम् । योऽर्चयेत्परमप्रीत्या तस्यासाध्यं न किंचन
jyeṣṭhe śuklatṛtīyāyāṃ vrataṃ kṛtvā maheśvarīm | yo'rcayetparamaprītyā tasyāsādhyaṃ na kiṃcana
Whoever, on the tṛtīyā—the third lunar day—of the bright fortnight in the month of Jyeṣṭha, undertakes the vowed observance and worships Mahēśvarī (Pārvatī) with supreme devotion—for that devotee, nothing remains impossible to accomplish.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Uma-saṃhitā teaching to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Vrata-tithi specification: Jyeṣṭha śukla tṛtīyā worship of Maheśvarī with paramaprīti; not anchored to a Jyotirliṅga site.
Significance: Highlights vrata as a means of siddhi and divine favor; ‘nothing impossible’ expresses the Purāṇic idiom of grace-enabled accomplishment.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that sincere vrata and wholehearted worship of Mahēśvarī (Pārvatī), the inseparable Śakti of Śiva, removes inner obstacles (pāśa) and grants success through divine grace rather than mere personal effort.
In Śaiva understanding, worship of Pārvatī is never separate from Śiva: honoring Mahēśvarī supports Saguna devotion to Śiva (often through Liṅga-pūjā) because Śiva and Śakti function as one reality in bestowing blessings and spiritual attainment.
It specifically recommends observing a vrata on Jyeṣṭha śukla tṛtīyā and performing devoted pūjā to Mahēśvarī; practitioners may accompany it with Śiva-Śakti remembrance and mantra-japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to deepen bhakti.
