yena svargādihāgatya muhūrtaṃ prāpya jīvitam | trayo'pi saṃcitā lokā buddhyā satyena cānagha
O sinless one, by him who came here from heaven and gained life even for a moment, one may, through discerning wisdom and truthfulness, secure the fruits of all the three worlds.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: General teaching: even brief embodied opportunity (muhūrta of human life) can yield the highest puruṣārtha when aligned with satya and buddhi oriented to Śiva; implies the rare ‘manuṣya-janma’ as a gateway to grace.
Role: teaching
It teaches that even a brief span of human life is spiritually decisive: with right discernment (buddhi) and truthfulness (satya), one can gain the highest fruits across the three worlds—pointing to the Shaiva ideal of inner purification leading toward Shiva’s grace.
Linga-worship is not merely external; it is fulfilled when the devotee’s conduct becomes aligned with Shiva—especially satya and clear buddhi. Such inner alignment makes worship efficacious and turns worldly life into a means for merit and liberation.
The implied practice is disciplined living: truthfulness in speech and action, and contemplative discernment. In Shaiva practice this pairs naturally with daily japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and self-examination to keep one’s mind steady and truthful.
