By displeasing your father, by killing the guru’s milk-cow, and by using what was not ritually purified (sprinkled/cleansed), your transgression is threefold.
Lord Shiva (instructing within the Umāsaṃhitā discourse)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It identifies three dharmic breaches—toward father, guru, and ritual purity—that thicken pāśa (bondage) and obstruct the sādhaka’s approach to Pati (Shiva) in Shaiva Siddhanta.
Linga-worship requires inner reverence and outer discipline; honoring father and guru sustains right conduct, and avoiding aprokṣita use preserves the sanctity of offerings and worship in Saguna Shiva practice.
Maintain śauca (purity) before puja—sprinkle/cleanse items properly, approach worship after respectful remembrance of guru and elders, and keep the mind restrained while repeating the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
