It points to a key Shaiva insight: the Divine can be experienced as overwhelming tejas (radiance), yet that very splendor can also veil clear recognition of the Lord’s true form until grace and right discernment make it knowable.
Linga-worship trains the devotee to approach Shiva beyond mere sensory brilliance—moving from an indefinable radiance (aniconic presence) toward Saguna recognition of Shiva’s revealed form, while remembering that His essence still transcends form.
Meditate on Shiva as inner light while repeating the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), letting attention cut through distraction and awe; in ritual, support this with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and steady japa to seek clarity rather than mere spectacle.
