Bhārgava is to be known as the seventh among them, a veritable treasury of tapas. These five groups of divine beings are declared to be mind-born sons of Brahmā.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Cosmic Event: secondary creation (sarga) via mānasa-putras of Brahmā
It praises tapas (austerity) as a concentrated spiritual power and presents Bhārgava as an exemplar of disciplined merit, while also situating divine beings within Brahmā’s mind-born creation—showing that even exalted hosts arise within cosmic order and ultimately seek the grace of Pati (Śiva) for liberation.
By emphasizing tapas as a ‘treasury,’ the verse supports the Shaiva view that disciplined practice ripens devotion; such tapas is traditionally directed toward Saguna Śiva—often through Linga worship—so that effort becomes purified and culminates in Śiva’s grace rather than mere cosmic status.
The implied practice is sustained tapas: daily japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), simple vows of restraint, and steady worship (including Linga-arcana) performed with purity—making austerity a support for bhakti and inner steadiness.
