He is the Pillar of vital power, the Supreme Support; Vṛṣabha, the Bull—the foremost among beings—and the Lord of riches. He shines with divine light, resplendent in splendor, and radiant with brilliant luster—thus is the seventh set of His names proclaimed.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Liṅgodbhava
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
Cosmic Event: Cosmic-stambha symbolism (axis mundi) implying transcendence over measurable limits (ananta-stambha motif).
The verse praises Shiva as the transcendent foundation of all power and stability—Pati, the supreme support—who illumines the bound soul (paśu) with the light of consciousness, enabling release from bondage (pāśa) toward moksha.
Calling Shiva the ‘pillar’ and ‘radiant light’ aligns with Linga symbolism: the Linga is worshiped as the steadfast cosmic support and as Jyoti (divine light), a saguna form that leads the devotee to the realization of Shiva’s nirguna transcendence.
Japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while visualizing Shiva as an inner pillar of light (jyoti-stambha) is appropriate; it can be paired with Tripundra (bhasma) and a brief meditation on steadiness and luminosity in the heart.
