सृष्टिविस्तारप्रश्नः (Sṛṣṭi-vistāra-praśnaḥ) — The Detailed Inquiry into Creation
नारद उवाच । भुवो मानमजानंतः कथं सृष्टिं करिष्यथ । सर्वे हि बालिशाः किं हि सृष्टिकर्तुं समुद्यताः
nārada uvāca | bhuvo mānamajānaṃtaḥ kathaṃ sṛṣṭiṃ kariṣyatha | sarve hi bāliśāḥ kiṃ hi sṛṣṭikartuṃ samudyatāḥ
Narada said: “Not knowing the measure and true extent of the worlds, how will you accomplish creation? Indeed, you are all inexperienced—why have you set out to act as creators?”

Tattva Level: pati
Sthala Purana: No Jyotirliṅga linkage; the verse is a guru-like rebuke by Nārada, functioning as anugraha by preventing ignorant karmic expansion and redirecting toward right knowledge.
Role: teaching
The verse critiques ego-driven agency: without true knowledge of the cosmic order, attempts at “creating” (acting as independent doers) are immature. In Shaiva Siddhanta, right action must align with Pati (Shiva), the supreme knower and governor of creation.
It implies that cosmic functions are not mastered by mere ambition; one approaches the source of measure and order through devotion to Shiva—often symbolized by the Linga as the axis of creation and the revealer of true reality beyond limited intellect.
A practical takeaway is humility and alignment through japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and contemplative inquiry before undertaking major actions, recognizing Shiva as the inner ruler (Pati) who grants right understanding.
