Kṛṣṇādi-Śivabhaktoddhāraṇa & Śiva-māhātmya-varṇana
Deliverance of Krishna and other devotees; Description of Shiva’s Greatness
महेन्द्रपर्वते रामः स्थितस्तपसि तिष्ठति । कल्पांते पुनरेवासावृषिस्थानमवाप्स्यति
mahendraparvate rāmaḥ sthitastapasi tiṣṭhati | kalpāṃte punarevāsāvṛṣisthānamavāpsyati
Rāma remains upon Mount Mahendra, steadfastly abiding in austerity. At the end of the kalpa, he will again attain the state and station of a ṛṣi (sage).

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Mount Mahendra is presented as a tapas-kṣetra where Rāma remains in austerity; the verse is more about the continuity of tapas across cosmic time than about a specific liṅga-site.
Significance: Mahendra/Mahendragiri is revered as a siddha-kṣetra: tapas performed there is believed to accelerate purification and steadiness of mind.
Cosmic Event: kalpa-anta (end of an aeon)
It highlights tapas (austere, yogic perseverance) as a purifying discipline that matures the soul across cosmic time, culminating in higher spiritual attainment—here expressed as gaining ṛṣi-status.
Though the verse does not mention the Liṅga explicitly, it reflects a core Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis: sustained practice and devotion to the Lord (Saguna Shiva as the accessible focus of worship) ripen karma and elevate the seeker toward liberation-oriented states.
The takeaway is steady tapas: regular japa (especially Panchākṣarī—"Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), meditation, and disciplined living, optionally supported by Shaiva marks like bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and rudrāksha as aids to constancy.
