Strī-svabhāva-kathanam: Nārada–Pañcacūḍā-saṃvāda
Discourse on Dispassion via the Nārada–Pañcacūḍā Dialogue
स्त्रियं च यः प्रार्थयते सन्निकर्षं च गच्छति । ईषच्च कुरुते सेवां तमेवेच्छति योषितः
striyaṃ ca yaḥ prārthayate sannikarṣaṃ ca gacchati | īṣacca kurute sevāṃ tamevecchati yoṣitaḥ
A man who entreats a woman, approaches her closely, and renders her even a little service—him alone that woman comes to desire.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana discourse to the sages, conveying the teaching within Umāsaṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights how attachment grows through pursuit, proximity, and small acts that feed desire—illustrating a form of pāśa (bondage) that the seeker must recognize and transcend through vairāgya and devotion to Pati (Shiva).
By warning how the mind becomes bound through longing, it implicitly redirects the aspirant toward steady bhakti—placing affection and service at the feet of Saguna Shiva (Linga-worship) rather than toward sense-objects that strengthen bondage.
Cultivate restraint and redirect ‘service’ into Shiva-upāsanā: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and inward watchfulness over desire-driven thoughts.
