Bhāratavarṣa–Navabheda-Vyavasthā
The Nine Divisions of Bhāratavarṣa and Its Sacred Geography
निरामया वीतशोका रागद्वेषविवर्जिताः । अधर्मो न मतस्तेषां न बंधवधकौ मुने
nirāmayā vītaśokā rāgadveṣavivarjitāḥ | adharmo na matasteṣāṃ na baṃdhavadhakau mune
They are free from illness and beyond sorrow, devoid of attachment and aversion. For them, O sage, there is no notion of adharma; neither bondage nor destruction (death) has any hold.
Lord Shiva (teaching in the Umāsaṃhitā discourse)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: state-description resembling a loka where karmic afflictions are attenuated; pedagogical contrast to bondage (paśa)
It describes the liberated Shaiva state: when rāga and dveṣa are dissolved through Shiva-knowledge and steadiness in dharma, the soul is untouched by sorrow, illness, and the very idea of adharma—signifying release from pāśa (bondage) under Pati (Shiva).
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion are presented as purifying means that burn impurities (mala) and quieten rāga-dveṣa; as inner purity matures, the devotee abides in Shiva’s grace where bondage and fear of death lose their force.
Practice vairāgya with steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and daily Shiva-pūjā (optionally with bhasma/tripuṇḍra and rudrākṣa) to weaken attachment-aversion and stabilize the mind in Shiva.
