तेनैव वलया कारा द्वीपवर्षसमाकृतिः । दशवर्षसहस्राणि तत्र जीवंति मानवाः
tenaiva valayā kārā dvīpavarṣasamākṛtiḥ | daśavarṣasahasrāṇi tatra jīvaṃti mānavāḥ
By that very encircling formation, the dvīpa-varṣa becomes ring-shaped, taking the form of an island-continent with its regions. There, human beings live for ten thousand years.

It highlights Shiva’s orderly governance of the cosmos—worlds and life-spans are not random but sustained by a higher, intelligent principle (Pati). Contemplating such cosmic order supports vairāgya and steadiness on the path of liberation.
The ring-shaped cosmic arrangement points to Shiva as the sustaining Lord who gives form and duration to embodied existence. In Saguna worship, the Linga is revered as the stable axis of creation—symbolizing that the manifest universe rests upon Shiva’s power.
A practical takeaway is to meditate on Shiva as the inner regulator (antaryāmin) while repeating the Panchākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to cultivate steadiness and detachment, remembering that even long life is still within cosmic limitation.
