Svagati-varṇana
Description of the Supreme State / One’s True Attainment
मद्भक्तिस्तु स्थिरा चास्तु सदा दास्यामि दर्शनम् । स्मृतश्च भवता वत्स प्रियस्त्वं सर्वथा मम
madbhaktistu sthirā cāstu sadā dāsyāmi darśanam | smṛtaśca bhavatā vatsa priyastvaṃ sarvathā mama
May your devotion to me remain steadfast. I shall ever grant you my divine vision (darśana). And whenever you remember me, dear child, know that you are wholly beloved of me.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
The verse presents Shiva’s anugraha (grace): when devotion becomes steady (sthirā bhakti) and the devotee remembers Him, Shiva reciprocates by granting darśana—signifying the soul’s movement from bondage (pāśa) toward the Lord (Pati) through grace.
Darśana here aligns with Saguna worship—approaching Shiva through accessible forms such as the Śiva-liṅga, where remembrance, pūjā, and heartfelt bhakti invite the Lord’s tangible presence and blessing.
The practical takeaway is smaraṇa with steady bhakti: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) before the liṅga, combined with simple devotion (and, where traditional, tripuṇḍra bhasma and rudrākṣa), to cultivate constancy and receptivity to Shiva’s grace.
