Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
ईश्वर उवाच । शृणु सत्पुत्र तातस्त्वं सुयशेयन्तव प्रिया । ददामि ते वरम्प्रीत्या यत्ते मनसि वाञ्छितम्
īśvara uvāca | śṛṇu satputra tātastvaṃ suyaśeyantava priyā | dadāmi te varamprītyā yatte manasi vāñchitam
Īśvara, Lord Śiva, said: “Listen, O virtuous son—beloved child of Suyaśā. Out of love I grant you a boon: whatever your heart desires.”
Lord Shiva (Ishvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: liberating
The verse highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): when devotion ripens, the Lord responds personally and grants what is truly held in the devotee’s heart—often guiding the desire toward auspiciousness and liberation.
This is a Saguna (personal) moment of Śiva as Īśvara—He speaks, blesses, and grants boons. In Linga worship, devotees approach the same compassionate Lord through the Linga as His sacred, accessible presence.
The practical takeaway is prayerful surrender: worship Śiva (especially via Linga-pūjā) and inwardly offer one’s heartfelt intention, coupled with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” trusting the Lord’s gracious response.
