Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
सदाहन्तव नन्दीश सन्तुष्टोऽस्मि गणेश्वर । देव्या च सहितो वत्स शृणु मे परमं वचः
sadāhantava nandīśa santuṣṭo'smi gaṇeśvara | devyā ca sahito vatsa śṛṇu me paramaṃ vacaḥ
O Nandīśa, ever dear to Me—O lord among the Gaṇas—I am pleased. Dear child, together with the Goddess, listen to My supreme word.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: teaching
The verse highlights Śiva as the compassionate Pati (Lord) who becomes pleased by devotion and then gives “parama vacaḥ”—authoritative guidance that leads the devotee toward right worship and liberation-oriented life.
By depicting Śiva speaking personally—together with Devī—it emphasizes Saguna Śiva’s grace: the Lord responds to devotion, instructs His attendants, and thereby establishes the living tradition of worship (including Linga-centered devotion) through divine command and example.
Śravaṇa (reverent listening) is central: receiving Śiva’s teaching with humility. As a Shaiva takeaway, one may pair this with daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and attentive listening/recitation of Śiva Purāṇa passages.
