Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
तथाविधं त्रिलोकेशस्सपत्नीकं च माम्प्रभुः । प्रोवाच परया प्रीत्या स शिवो भक्तवत्सलः
tathāvidhaṃ trilokeśassapatnīkaṃ ca māmprabhuḥ | provāca parayā prītyā sa śivo bhaktavatsalaḥ
Then the Lord of the three worlds—Śiva, the tender guardian of His devotees—spoke to me, together with my wife, with supreme affection and grace.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It highlights Śiva as Bhaktavatsala—His defining trait is compassionate responsiveness to devotion. Liberation and protection are shown to arise not merely from austerity, but from the Lord’s grace expressed through loving instruction.
The verse emphasizes Saguna Śiva—the personal Lord who speaks, guides, and nurtures devotees. Such intimacy supports Purāṇic linga-worship as a relational path where the devotee approaches the Lord and receives His compassionate direction.
The implied takeaway is bhakti expressed through listening to Śiva’s teachings (śravaṇa) and obedient practice—commonly supported in Shaiva tradition by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and regular pūjā with a devotional attitude.
