Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
रथश्च हेमहारश्च चन्द्रबिंबसमः शुभः । अन्यान्यपि च वस्तूनि लब्धानि हि मया मुने
rathaśca hemahāraśca candrabiṃbasamaḥ śubhaḥ | anyānyapi ca vastūni labdhāni hi mayā mune
“I obtained a chariot and a golden necklace—auspicious, radiant like the orb of the moon. And many other objects too have indeed been gained by me, O sage.”
A narrator/character within Suta Goswami’s narration (addressing a sage)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It highlights that auspicious, radiant worldly gains can arise, yet in Shaiva thought they remain external fruits; the deeper aim is to direct such prosperity toward devotion to Pati (Shiva) rather than becoming bound by it.
In Linga/Saguna Shiva worship, prosperity is treated as Shiva’s prasada; the devotee receives gifts with gratitude and offers the merit back through puja, dana, and remembrance of Shiva, keeping attachment from becoming a pasha (bond).
Practice receiving prosperity with mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and offering (naivedya/dāna) as Shiva-arpana; cultivate vairagya so gains do not eclipse bhakti.
