ऋषभचरित्रवर्णनम् (Ṛṣabha-caritra-varṇanam) — “Account of Ṛṣabha’s Sacred Narrative”
तेन रूपेण भक्तानां बहूनां दुःखिनां विधे । उद्धारं भवतोऽहं वै करिष्यामि दयाकरः
tena rūpeṇa bhaktānāṃ bahūnāṃ duḥkhināṃ vidhe | uddhāraṃ bhavato'haṃ vai kariṣyāmi dayākaraḥ
O Creator (Brahmā), in that very form I shall indeed bring deliverance to many sorrowing devotees; for I am compassionate by nature.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: General purāṇic promise: Śiva’s compassionate manifestation uplifts afflicted devotees; encourages śaraṇāgati and bhakti.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It declares Shiva’s anugraha (saving grace): out of compassion, the Lord assumes an accessible form to uplift devotees from sorrow and lead them toward liberation.
It supports Saguna-upāsanā: devotees approach Shiva through a form (including the Śiva-liṅga), and through that concrete focus Shiva grants protection, purification, and ultimately release from bondage.
Cultivate bhakti through regular Śiva-pūjā—especially liṅga-abhiṣeka with mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—as a direct way to seek Shiva’s compassionate upliftment.
