Description of Shiva’s Ardhanārī-nara Manifestation
अन्यं त्वत्तः प्रार्थयामि वरं च वरदेश्वरि । देहि मे तं कृपां कृत्वा जगन्मातर्नमोऽस्तु ते
anyaṃ tvattaḥ prārthayāmi varaṃ ca varadeśvari | dehi me taṃ kṛpāṃ kṛtvā jaganmātarnamo'stu te
O bestower of boons, O sovereign Lady of boons! From you alone I beg yet another boon. Bestow it upon me with compassion, O Mother of the universe—salutations be to you.
A devotee (narrative voice within Śatarudrasaṃhitā, presented through Suta Goswami’s narration)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Mantra: namo'stu te
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Ambikā
Role: nurturing
Offering: dhupa
It models Shaiva bhakti as humble surrender: the devotee seeks not entitlement but compassionate grace (kṛpā) from Jaganmātā, acknowledging that divine favor is the true source of fulfillment and spiritual uplift.
Though addressed to the Goddess, it supports Saguna worship in the Shiva Purana: devotion to Śakti as Jaganmātā is inseparable from devotion to Shiva, since her grace is the channel through which the soul is led toward Shiva’s realization and protection.
The verse suggests a simple upāsanā of prayerful surrender—offer salutations (namas), ask with humility, and seek kṛpā; it pairs naturally with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and reverent worship of Shiva-Shakti with a compassionate intention.
