Description of Shiva’s Ardhanārī-nara Manifestation
सर्वासामेव शक्तीनां त्वत्तः खलु समुद्भवः । तस्मात्त्वं परमां शक्तिं प्रार्थयाम्यखिलेश्वरीम्
sarvāsāmeva śaktīnāṃ tvattaḥ khalu samudbhavaḥ | tasmāttvaṃ paramāṃ śaktiṃ prārthayāmyakhileśvarīm
Indeed, the origin of all śaktis arises from You alone. Therefore I pray to You—the Supreme Power, the Sovereign Lady of all—grant me Your grace.
A devotee/narrated prayer within Suta Goswami’s discourse (invocation to the Supreme Shakti as inseparable from Shiva)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It affirms that every śakti—worldly ability, spiritual power, and liberating grace—proceeds from the Supreme Divine (Shiva-Shakti). The seeker therefore turns from limited powers to the highest Śakti, asking for anugraha (grace) that leads toward liberation.
In Linga worship, Shiva is adored as the Supreme Pati (Lord), and Shakti as His inseparable power of manifestation and grace. This verse supports Saguna upāsanā by directing prayer to the Divine as the personal Sovereign (Akhileśvarī), the source behind all manifest energies.
A direct practice is heartfelt japa and prayer—especially Panchakshara japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") with the contemplation that all śaktis arise from the Supreme, concluding with a humble request for divine grace; it may be paired with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha as Shaiva devotional supports.
