Therefore, with every effort this child must be protected; for even a virtue can turn into a fault when the Disposer of destiny becomes adverse.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pasha
It teaches vigilance in dharma: worldly merit is fragile under adverse karmic conditions, so one should actively protect what is sacred and seek Lord Shiva as the steady refuge beyond changing fate.
When circumstances turn hostile, devotion to Saguna Shiva—especially through Linga-worship—anchors the devotee in divine order (Pati) rather than being swept away by the instability of worldly outcomes.
Maintain protective Shaiva discipline: daily Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Linga-pūjā with vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) as a reminder to guard virtue through steady practice.
