गृहस्थ-जीवनसंस्काराः तथा पुत्रजन्म-शुभलक्षणवर्णनम् / Household Saṃskāras and the Auspicious Portents of a Son’s Birth
ततो दृष्ट्वा तु सर्वं हि तालुजिह्वादि नारदः । विश्वानरं समवदच्छिवप्रेरणया सुधीः
tato dṛṣṭvā tu sarvaṃ hi tālujihvādi nāradaḥ | viśvānaraṃ samavadacchivapreraṇayā sudhīḥ
Then, having observed everything—beginning with the palate and the tongue—Nārada, the wise one, spoke to Vaiśvānara, impelled by Lord Śiva’s inspiration.
Narada
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Role: teaching
It highlights Śiva as the inner governor (Pati) who empowers the devotee’s faculties—speech and perception—so that words arise not from ego, but from divine impetus aligned with dharma and liberation.
Even when worship is outward (Saguna—Linga, form, ritual), the verse points to Śiva as the indwelling force who activates the devotee’s senses and speech, making praise, mantra, and prayer effective through His grace.
Practice disciplined, truth-aligned speech while doing japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), treating the tongue and palate as instruments sanctified by Śiva, and offering every utterance as worship.
