Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Frames Śiva as sarva-śānti-kara (universal pacifier) and āpatti-nāśaka (remover of calamity), a common pilgrimage expectation at major Śiva-kṣetras.
Mantra: एतत्स्तोत्रप्रपठनं पुत्रपौत्रधनप्रदम् । सर्व्वशान्तिकरश्चापि सर्व्वापत्तिविनाशनम्
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
It teaches that devoted recitation (stotra-pāṭha) is a direct Shaiva practice that purifies the mind, establishes śānti (inner and outer peace), and removes obstacles through Shiva’s grace.
A stotra is a Saguna form of upāsanā—approaching Shiva through praise, name, and attributes—often performed alongside Linga worship, where devotion is expressed through sound (stuti) and offering (pūjā).
Regular stotra recitation as a daily vrata-like discipline—ideally with mental focus (dhyāna) and purity—can be paired with japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) for śānti and āpatti-nivāraṇa (removal of distress).
