देवस्तुतिवर्णनम् (Deva-stuti-varṇana) — “Description of the Gods’ Hymn/Praise”
संजजाप हरिश्चापि सविधिश्शिवमानसः । देवानां कार्यसिद्ध्यर्थं मुनीनां च विशेषतः
saṃjajāpa hariścāpi savidhiśśivamānasaḥ | devānāṃ kāryasiddhyarthaṃ munīnāṃ ca viśeṣataḥ
Then Hari (Viṣṇu) too, observing the rite in full and the proper procedure—his mind absorbed in Śiva—performed intense japa, so that the gods’ purpose might be fulfilled, and especially for the welfare and accomplishment of the sages.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: panchakshara
Role: teaching
It teaches that even Hari (Viṣṇu) attains success by becoming śiva-mānasa—fixing the mind on Pati (Śiva)—and by disciplined japa done with vidhi; divine work is fulfilled through devotion aligned with right practice.
The verse highlights Saguna-Śiva devotion in practice: japa performed with proper rites implies worship directed to Śiva as accessible Lord (often through liṅga-upāsanā), where focused mind and procedure together bring siddhi for dharmic aims.
Perform mantra-japa with due vidhi—taking sankalpa, maintaining purity and steadiness, and meditating with a Śiva-centered mind (śiva-mānasaḥ); this can be paired with Shaiva supports like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa where appropriate.
