शिवस्तुतिवर्णनम् (Śiva-stuti-varṇanam) — “Description of Hymns in Praise of Śiva”
सदा त्वं कार्यकर्त्ताहि देवानां शरणप्रद । वयं ते शरणापन्ना यथेच्छसि तथा कुरु
sadā tvaṃ kāryakarttāhi devānāṃ śaraṇaprada | vayaṃ te śaraṇāpannā yathecchasi tathā kuru
You alone ever accomplish the gods’ purposes and bestow refuge. We have taken shelter in You; act in whatever way You deem fit.
The Devas (gods), addressing Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It teaches śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) in Pati—Lord Shiva—as the supreme protector and the one who fulfills cosmic purposes; surrender means trusting his will as the highest good.
The verse expresses personal surrender to Saguna Shiva—the compassionate Lord who grants protection—an attitude central to Linga worship where devotees approach Shiva as the accessible refuge and bestower of grace.
Practice refuge through japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with a surrendering intention, offering prayers for protection and accepting Shiva’s decision as prasāda.
