अध्याय ५५ — बाणस्य पुनर्युद्धप्रवृत्तिः
Bāṇa’s Renewed Engagement in Battle
त्वं तु योगीश्वरस्स्साक्षात्परमात्मा जनार्दन । विचार्यतां स्वमनसा सर्वभूतहिते रतः
tvaṃ tu yogīśvarasssākṣātparamātmā janārdana | vicāryatāṃ svamanasā sarvabhūtahite rataḥ
But you, O Janārdana, are in truth the Lord of Yoga—indeed the Supreme Self (Paramātman). Therefore, reflecting within your own mind, act while remaining intent on the welfare of all beings.
A divine ally/counsellor addressing Janārdana (Vishnu) within the Yuddhakhaṇḍa narrative (as relayed in the Shiva Purana’s Rudrasaṁhitā).
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that the highest spiritual authority expresses itself as clear inner discernment and universal benevolence—true yoga culminates in actions aligned with the welfare of all beings.
Though addressed to Janārdana, the Shiva Purana’s Shaiva framing emphasizes that devotion (to Saguna Shiva, such as the Linga) must mature into purified intellect and compassionate dharma—external worship should produce inner steadiness and selfless conduct.
The practical takeaway is contemplative self-inquiry before action (vicāra) supported by steady yoga—ideally alongside Shaiva disciplines like japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to keep the mind anchored in universal good.
