Tripuramohana — “The Delusion/Enchanting of Tripura”
पर्यंकशायिनां स्वापे सुखं यदुपजायते । तदेव सौख्यं निद्राभिर्भूतभूशायिनामपि
paryaṃkaśāyināṃ svāpe sukhaṃ yadupajāyate | tadeva saukhyaṃ nidrābhirbhūtabhūśāyināmapi
The comfort that arises in sleep for those who lie upon a couch—by that very same sleep, a like comfort is experienced even by beings who lie upon the bare ground.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
It highlights vairagya (dispassion): basic bodily pleasures like sleep are essentially the same for the rich and the poor, so a seeker should not mistake external luxury for true śānti and should turn the mind toward Shiva as Pati, the giver of liberation.
By showing the small, equal nature of sensory comforts, the verse redirects attention from possessions to devotion—worship of the Shiva-Linga (Saguna Shiva) as a steady support for the mind, leading toward inner purity and the grace that loosens pāśa (bondage).
Cultivate contentment and simplicity, then stabilize the mind with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and daily Shiva worship; such practice converts ordinary rest into inner recollection rather than attachment to comfort.
