अध्याय ३८ — काली-शंखचूड-युद्धे अस्त्रप्रयोगः
Kālī and Śaṅkhacūḍa: Mantra-Weapons and Surrender in Battle
गृहीत्वा दानवं देवी भ्रामयित्वा पुनःपुनः । ऊर्द्ध्वं च प्रापयामास महाकोपेन वेगतः
gṛhītvā dānavaṃ devī bhrāmayitvā punaḥpunaḥ | ūrddhvaṃ ca prāpayāmāsa mahākopena vegataḥ
Seizing the demon, the Goddess whirled him around again and again, and then—driven by her great wrath—she hurled him upward with tremendous force.

The verse portrays divine śakti actively subduing demonic force—symbolizing the destruction of adharma and inner impurities. In a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, such “wrath” is not hatred but a compassionate, purifying power that removes obstruction to Dharma and devotion to Shiva.
The Goddess’ victorious action reflects Saguna divinity—Shiva’s power manifest as Devi—protecting devotees and restoring cosmic order. Linga-worship centers on the same truth: the transcendent Shiva becomes approachable through form, grace, and protective power expressed in sacred narratives.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to “lift” the mind above tamas and fear, along with simple Shaiva observances such as applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and cultivating steady breath to regain inner force when facing agitation.
