O Lord, the prince Bhadrāyu attained happiness and became free from suffering; by the compassion of his mother—who was Your devotee—he also reached the supreme state (final liberation).
Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Sthala Purana: Not tied to a Jyotirliṅga; the narrative stresses ‘bhakta-kṛpā’ (devotee-mediated grace): the mother’s devotion becomes an instrument for the son’s uplift.
Significance: Encourages family-line devotion and temple culture: a devotee’s merit and compassion can become a channel for others’ spiritual welfare (anugraha through sambandha).
Shakti Form: Parvati
Role: nurturing
It teaches that suffering ends and the highest good is attained through Śiva’s grace, often flowing through the compassion of His devotees—here, the mother’s bhakti becomes the channel for the son’s upliftment.
The verse highlights Saguna Śiva as the gracious Lord (Prabhu) who responds to devotion; Linga-worship and service to Śiva’s devotees are presented as concrete, relational means by which divine grace operates in the world.
Cultivate bhakti through daily Śiva-pūjā (especially Linga-archana), japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and seva to Śiva-bhaktas—since their compassion is praised as spiritually transformative.
