jalaṃdharaṃ hataṃ dṛṣṭvā devagandharvapannagāḥ | abhavansuprasannāśca sādhu deveti cābruvan
Seeing Jalandhara slain, the Devas, Gandharvas, and Nāgas were filled with great joy and cried out, “Well done, O Lord!”
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Mantra: साधु देवेति
Type: stotra
Cosmic Event: restoration of deva-order after the fall of an adharmic asura
It portrays the restoration of dharma when Shiva, the supreme Pati, destroys the force that opposes divine order; the joy of the celestial beings symbolizes inner relief when ego and tyranny are uprooted by grace.
The exclamation “Sādhu, O Lord” reflects bhakti toward Saguna Shiva—the accessible Lord who acts in history; such praise (stuti) is central to Linga-worship where devotees adore Shiva as protector and remover of adharma.
Offer simple stuti and japa—especially the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with a devotional attitude of gratitude after obstacles are overcome, mentally dedicating victory to Shiva rather than to personal pride.
