जलंधरयुद्धे मायाप्रयोगः — Jalandhara’s Māyā in the Battle with Śiva
रुद्रे रणे महावेगाद्ववर्ष निशिताञ्छरान् । बाणांधकारसंछन्नं तथा भूमितलं ह्यभूत्
rudre raṇe mahāvegādvavarṣa niśitāñcharān | bāṇāṃdhakārasaṃchannaṃ tathā bhūmitalaṃ hyabhūt
In the battle, Rudra, with tremendous force, rained down sharp arrows; and the earth’s surface was covered, as though by a darkness made of arrows.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Cosmic Event: battle imagery likened to a man-made 'darkness'—miniature pralaya metaphor
It portrays Rudra’s Saguna power as the divine force that overwhelms adharma—His action is not mere violence, but the cosmic removal of obstruction, clearing the path for dharma and, ultimately, liberation through grace.
The verse highlights Saguna Shiva—Rudra with form and action—whom devotees approach through Linga worship as the accessible embodiment of the Supreme (Pati) who protects devotees and subdues hostile forces within and without.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) for inner protection and steadiness, paired with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as reminders of Rudra’s shielding presence during inner ‘battles’ of fear, anger, and delusion.
