जलंधरयुद्धे मायाप्रयोगः — Jalandhara’s Māyā in the Battle with Śiva
रुद्र उवाच । युवां दुष्टावतिखलावपराधकरौ मम । पार्वतीदंडदातारौ रणादस्मात्पराङ्मुखौ
rudra uvāca | yuvāṃ duṣṭāvatikhalāvaparādhakarau mama | pārvatīdaṃḍadātārau raṇādasmātparāṅmukhau
Rudra said: “You two are wicked and utterly depraved, offenders against Me. You are fit to receive punishment at Pārvatī’s hands; therefore turn your faces away and withdraw from this battle.”
Lord Shiva (Rudra)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: destructive
The verse highlights that Shiva-aparādha (offense toward Shiva and His dharma) brings immediate moral consequence, and that divine grace often appears first as discipline—redirecting the offender away from further wrongdoing so the soul may return to right conduct.
Here Saguna Shiva (Rudra) acts as the personal Lord who judges adharma and protects cosmic order. Linga-worship emphasizes reverence and humility; this verse warns that devotion must be free from arrogance and hostility, otherwise one falls into aparādha.
A practical takeaway is aparādha-kṣamā (seeking forgiveness) through Panchākṣarī japa—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—along with simple Shiva-pūjā using bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and sincere repentance to turn away (parāṅmukha) from harmful action.
