राहोर्विमोचनानन्तरं जलन्धरस्य सैन्योद्योगः — Rahu’s Aftermath and Jalandhara’s Mobilization
तच्छ्रुत्वा भगवान्रुद्रश्चकार क्रोधमुल्बणम् । भयंकरोऽतिरौद्रश्च बभूव प्रज्वलन्दिशः

Hearing this, Bhagavān Rudra was seized by fierce, overwhelming wrath. Terrible and exceedingly wrathful, he appeared as though the very quarters blazed around him.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Role: destructive
Cosmic Event: Localized pralaya-imagery: the quarters (diśaḥ) appear to blaze, evoking rudra-tejas as world-consuming fire.
Rudra’s blazing wrath symbolizes the divine power that burns up adharma and the inner impurities (mala) that bind the soul; in Shaiva Siddhanta, this fierce grace is a purifying force leading the pashu toward liberation under the Lord’s governance as Pati.
The verse highlights Saguna Shiva—Rudra with manifest attributes—whose dynamic energies protect cosmic order; Linga worship steadies the devotee in remembrance of the same Lord, whose fierce aspect destroys obstacles and whose auspicious aspect grants peace and grace.
To pacify inner agitation and align with Shiva’s grace, one may repeat the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrāksha, cultivating steadiness so the ‘fire’ of Rudra becomes inner purification rather than fear.
