नारद उवाच । सर्वदानवदैत्येन्द्र जलंधर महामते । धन्यस्त्वं सर्वलोकेश रत्नभोक्ता त्वमेव हि
nārada uvāca | sarvadānavadaityendra jalaṃdhara mahāmate | dhanyastvaṃ sarvalokeśa ratnabhoktā tvameva hi
Narada said: “O Jalandhara, foremost among all Dānavas and Daityas, O great-minded one! You are indeed blessed; O lord of all the worlds—truly, you alone are the enjoyer of treasures.”

The verse highlights worldly sovereignty and enjoyment of wealth as a form of “fortune,” setting a contrast (common in Shaiva narratives) between temporal power and the higher, Shiva-granted liberation that transcends possession and pride.
By praising Jalandhara’s lordship, the narrative frames the limits of created power; in Shaiva Siddhanta, true overlordship belongs to Pati (Shiva). Linga worship redirects devotion from transient dominion to Shiva as the supreme refuge and source of grace.
A practical takeaway is to counter attachment to “ratna-bhoga” (enjoyment of treasures) with daily Panchākṣara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and Tripuṇḍra-bhasma remembrance, cultivating detachment and devotion to Shiva as the highest Lord.
