अध्याय १७ — देवपलायनं, विष्णोः प्रतियुद्धं, जलंधरक्रोधः
Devas’ Rout, Viṣṇu’s Counterattack, and Jalandhara’s Wrath
वासुदेवः पुनर्बाणं नाशाय विबुधद्विषः । क्रोधेनाधत्त धनुषि सिंहवद्विननाद ह
vāsudevaḥ punarbāṇaṃ nāśāya vibudhadviṣaḥ | krodhenādhatta dhanuṣi siṃhavadvinanāda ha
Then Vāsudeva, intent on destroying that foe of the gods, in wrath set another arrow upon his bow and roared like a lion.

Though the scene is martial, it supports Saguna devotion by portraying divine agency in protecting dharma; in Shaiva reading, such protection ultimately serves Śiva’s cosmic governance, where outer battles symbolize the inner conquest sought through worship.
A practical takeaway is japa with focused determination—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to ‘aim the arrow’ of attention at inner negativity; optionally support with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and steady breath during repetition.
