मयस्य शिवस्तुतिः — Maya’s Hymn to Śiva
and Śiva’s Gracious Response
स्वगणैर्निखिलैर्देव्या शिवया सहितः प्रभुः । कृत्वामरमहत्कार्यं ससुतोंतरधादथ
svagaṇairnikhilairdevyā śivayā sahitaḥ prabhuḥ | kṛtvāmaramahatkāryaṃ sasutoṃtaradhādatha
Then the Lord, accompanied by the Goddess Śivā and by all His own gaṇas, having accomplished a mighty deed for the welfare of the immortals (the devas), disappeared from sight—together with His son.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Meditation on Śiva’s tirodhāna (self-concealment) teaches that the Lord is not absent but veiled; devotion matures from spectacle to inner recognition.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Cosmic Event: Divine disappearance (antaradhāna) after completion of a deva-welfare act—mythic marker of tirodhāna within pañcakṛtya.
It shows Pati (Śiva) as the sovereign protector who restores cosmic order, acts for the devas’ welfare, and then withdraws—teaching devotees to rely on His grace even when He is not visibly present.
Śiva’s ‘disappearing’ underscores that the Lord is beyond form (nirguṇa) while still approachable in gracious form (saguṇa). Linga-worship trains the mind to hold His presence steadily even when He is unseen.
Practice japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with bhāva of Śiva as the unseen protector; conclude with a brief inward dhyāna on Śiva with Devī and the gaṇas, cultivating steadiness when outcomes are not immediately visible.
