मयस्य शिवस्तुतिः — Maya’s Hymn to Śiva
and Śiva’s Gracious Response
इत्याज्ञप्ताः सुरेशैश्च मुंडिनस्ते मुनीश्वर । नमस्कृत्य गतास्तत्र यथोद्दिष्टं स्वमाश्रमम्
ityājñaptāḥ sureśaiśca muṃḍinaste munīśvara | namaskṛtya gatāstatra yathoddiṣṭaṃ svamāśramam
Thus instructed by the lords of the gods, those shaven-headed ascetics, O best of sages, bowed in reverent namaskāra and then departed—each to his own āśrama, exactly as he had been directed.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
The verse highlights dharmic discipline: divine instruction is received with humility (namaskāra) and then implemented without deviation. In a Shaiva Siddhanta mood, such obedience and reverence purify the pashu (bound soul) and prepare it for Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
While the verse does not mention the Liṅga directly, it models the inner posture required for Saguna Shiva worship—submission, respect, and faithful performance of what is enjoined. Such conduct supports proper pūjā, vrata, and temple/āśrama observances centered on Shiva.
The implied practice is namaskāra (reverential bowing) followed by disciplined action according to injunction (vidhi). As a takeaway, one may begin Shiva worship with respectful prostration and then perform japa or pūjā exactly as prescribed (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya with steady niyama).
