मयस्य शिवस्तुतिः — Maya’s Hymn to Śiva
and Śiva’s Gracious Response
भवद्भिर्मुंडिनो धीरा गुप्तभावान्ममाज्ञया । तावन्मरुस्थली सेव्या कलिर्यावात्समाव्रजेत्
bhavadbhirmuṃḍino dhīrā guptabhāvānmamājñayā | tāvanmarusthalī sevyā kaliryāvātsamāvrajet
“You steadfast Muṇḍin ascetics—by My command, keeping your inner intent concealed—should dwell and practice in the desert region, until Kali fully arrives.”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Bhairava
Cosmic Event: Approach of Kali-yuga (personified as Kali)
Shiva advises serious ascetics to protect their inner sādhanā and remain in seclusion as Kali approaches, emphasizing steadfast tapas and guarded devotion so spiritual practice is not disturbed by Kali-yuga influences.
The instruction “by My command” frames ascetic life as obedience to Saguna Shiva’s guidance; seclusion supports uninterrupted inner Linga-bhāvanā—meditating on Shiva as the indwelling Pati—when external conditions become adverse in Kali Yuga.
The verse points to guarded, continuous practice—especially silent japa (such as the Panchākṣarī ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’), tapas, and disciplined living in solitary places—so one’s mantra and inner vow remain protected.
