मयस्य शिवस्तुतिः — Maya’s Hymn to Śiva

and Śiva’s Gracious Response

अद्यतो मतमेतं हि प्रविष्टानां नृणां कलौ । कुगतिर्भविता ब्रूमः सत्यं नैवात्र संशयः

adyato matametaṃ hi praviṣṭānāṃ nṛṇāṃ kalau | kugatirbhavitā brūmaḥ satyaṃ naivātra saṃśayaḥ

From this day onward, for those who have entered into (adopted) this outlook in the Kali age, there will indeed be a ruinous course and a fallen destiny—this we declare as truth; of this there is no doubt at all.

FAQs

It warns that in Kali Yuga, adopting wrong views and adharma leads to a degraded spiritual trajectory (kugati), implying that right understanding and devotion to Pati (Shiva) are essential for liberation.

The verse contrasts harmful Kali-age “opinions” with the stabilizing refuge of Saguna Shiva worship—Linga-puja, mantra, and disciplined conduct—which protect the soul (pashu) from bondage and decline.

As a practical antidote to Kali Yuga’s downfall: steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya), regular Linga worship with purity, and Shaiva marks like Tripundra and Rudraksha as supports for right orientation.
