मयस्य शिवस्तुतिः — Maya’s Hymn to Śiva
and Śiva’s Gracious Response
युष्माकं भविता नैव कुगतिर्दुःखदायिनी । शिववासा यतो यूयं देवर्षिहितकारकाः
yuṣmākaṃ bhavitā naiva kugatirduḥkhadāyinī | śivavāsā yato yūyaṃ devarṣihitakārakāḥ
For you there shall never arise any miserable downfall that brings suffering, because you are dwellers in Śiva’s abode—benefactors who work for the welfare of the gods and the seer-sages.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that those aligned with Śiva and acting for dharma are protected from “kugati” (spiritual and existential downfall). In a Shaiva Siddhanta sense, Pati (Śiva) grants anugraha (grace) that removes suffering and secures the devotee’s auspicious path.
Calling devotees “śivavāsāḥ” implies living in Śiva’s presence through Saguna worship—Linga-pūjā, mantra, and service. By taking refuge in the tangible form of Śiva (the Linga and His compassionate lordship), the devotee is steadied in dharma and protected from painful consequences.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate Śiva-śaraṇāgati (taking refuge in Śiva) through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and regular Linga-abhiṣeka; this embodies “dwelling with Śiva” and supports fearlessness and right action.
